Objectives / Purpose of Job:

The Instrument Assembler will work in our production team and will be responsible for assembling and building sub-assemblies and complete systems to the required specifications for a variety of high value instruments.

Key Activities / Responsibilities:

Working in the production area, building assemblies or complete systems to drawings and build procedures. Working as an Instrument Assembler your duties will include:

  • 19″ Rack Systems
  • Wiring looms using tri-rated cables
  • Wiring of Control Units and interface boxes
  • Stainless steel plumbing (6mm), using Swagelok fittings
  • Copper plumbing (6, 15, 22mm) using Swagelok fittings and “Yorkshire fittings”
  • Nylon and PTFE plumbing
  • Black iron plumbing
  • Mechanical assembly of frames and cabinets
  • Cladding of large frames using pre-cut Calcium Silicate boards
  • Delicate assembly of intricate fragile ceramic sample posts and glass columns
  • Pre-testing of some assemblies prior to Final Test
  • Following all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental processes

Key Performance Indicators:

Based on annual performance reviews.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications / Training:

  • An electrical qualification/training is advantageous 
  • Competent level of English and Maths

Skills and Experience Required:

(Essential)

  • Previous experience of working within an electrical wiring capacity including 19″ racks, wiring looms, control boxes and general electro-mechanical assembly
  • The ability to follow assembly drawings and build processes
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools for the assembly of tasks

(Desirable):

  • Experience of bending and shaping pipework
  • Soldering skills
  • Experience of working in a similar manufacturing environment
