Objectives / Purpose of Job:
The Test Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the performance and reliability of our fire safety instrumentation. This includes hands on testing, configuration, calibration, fault diagnosis and quality checks across a range of systems such as gas analysis, reaction to fire and calorimetry equipment, all aligned with international fire safety standards.
You will work across a broad spectrum of fire safety applications, supporting both hardware and software components. The role also offers the opportunity to review and improve existing test processes, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Key Activities / Responsibilities:
Test – Final test of instruments after production:
- Electrical & mechanical inspection, test and overall performance of instrument and software.
- Ensuring all ancillary and spare parts are present and functional.
- The instrument is prepared appropriately for safe transport
- Oversee calibrated instruments and test processes and documentation.
- Fault finding on newly manufactured equipment.
- Giving telephone and email technical support to clients.
- Post-production factory acceptance testing of new instruments in conjunction with maintenance and customer returns.
- Technical support.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications / Training:
Essential-
- Degree in science, electrical or electronic engineering
- Qualified to ONC/HNC or equivalent in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering
- Minimum of two years’ commercial experience in electrical testing, inspection, assembly, service engineering, or on-site technical support
- Hands on experience with instrumentation systems, temperature control, electrical wiring, and mechanical design
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
Desirable
- Basic programming experience
- Experience delivering customer training on scientific equipment
- Familiarity with fire testing procedures and standards
- Knowledge of gas analysis systems
- Understanding of flow control systems
